I have been using the Ole Henriksen line for a few years now. And, I absolutely love it! Their products include natural botanical, essential fatty acids, and potent actives that moisturize, tone and exfoliate skin without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
I have sensitive skin with some dry patches around my nose and chin. And for this reason, I am hesitant to try new products. I try to keep things natural and light and avoid frequent changes in products.
When I first heard about the Ole Henriksen line from Jen (@piecesofemerald), I got very excited; especially after learning that they use natural ingredients in their products. I have tried products from their Truth Collection, Transform Collection for uneven tone/texture, Transform Plus Collection for Age-defying and the scrubs from the Balance Collection for blemish-prone skin.
For today’s blog, I will be sharing my experience using the Ole Henriksen PHAT Glow Facial.
Some of the noticeable ingredients in this product are Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA), Nordic birch sap, pink bentonite clay, chia seed oil, cotton extract, sugarcane, chamomile, lemon, sandalwood, and licorice root. I was game for this product the moment I read bentonite clay, and sandalwood.
PHAs – these are like cousins to AHA and BHAs except that PHAs do not go too deep into your skin; they work fairly on the surface, cleaning dead skin cells without disturbing the skin’s deeper delicate areas. They also fight glycation – a process where sugar we eat binds to our skin’s collagen to weaken it, and it is rich in antioxidants that promote epidermal growth and repair. According to Allure, those with sensitive skin can benefit best from PHAs.
Nordic birch sap – hydrates and nourishes skin.
Pink Bentonite Clay – great exfoliant, helps to clarify and renew skin.
Chia Seed Oil – the fatty acids in it help to nourish the skin and keep it hydrated.
Cotton extract, Sugarcane, Chamomile, Lemon, Sandalwood, and Licorice Root – help to condition skin.
HOW TO USE OLE HENRIKSEN PHAT GLOW FACIAL
Apply an even layer to clean and dry skin. The product is pink (my guess from the pink bentonite 😉), but as you massage it into your skin, it turns white and a little sticky.
Leave it on for about 15 minutes (I did it for 10 my first time), and wipe it off with a damp wash cloth.
You may feel your face tingling and warm which is why I didn’t keep it too long during my first try. You should do a patch test before applying it on your face.
AFTER THE FACT
The minute after I removed this product, I noticed an instant glow on my face. My skin felt smooth and even, and believe me when I say, I have not had my face feel that way since the last time I had my $80 facial at the salon (many months ago!).
Removes white and black heads – I had some around my chin and lip area and they were all gone.
Removes dead skin – I use a magnifying mirror when I am tweezing my eye brows and when I looked at it, all the dry, dead skin, roughness around my chin, nose, and forehead were gone.
Instant glow – the name says it all! My skin was glowing, and it looked and felt tight. It also felt conditioned because there were no dry patches around my nose and chin.
Decrease in dark patches – in just 1 use, I noticed that my skin was brighter and smoother with a noticeable decrease in my hyperpigmentation (around chin/upper lip).
Gentle smell – sweet smelling – not too strong or weird.
Does not require a ton of application for it to work.
Price – even though it is about $50 for a 1.7 oz bottle (and can be used several times), I feel that it is very much worth it when compared to other brands out there, and even when comparing it to getting a salon facial.
Gentle- yet effective.
I don’t really have any cons about this product, but I would like to point out that it feels sticky once you have applied it. However, removing it with a wet wash cloth is an important step and it should remove the product and the stickiness completely.
After the facial, apply the Transform Plus Glow Cycle Retin ALT Power Serum and the Goodnight Glow Retin ALT Sleeping Cream for enhanced results.
Have you tried it? What do you think?
P.S. this is not a paid or sponsored post. All the opinions are my own based on my experience. Please do a patch test before using this product.
